RoHS /Lead-Free Products:
LSI/CSI
RoHS Compliant/Lead-Free Policy - |
Please note: The RoHS compliant packages we provide are
completely backward compatible to Non-RoHS soldering processes.
Our lead-free products use 100% Tin (matte) finish on the
leads. They can be soldered in a 220-225°C SnPb soldering
process or the lead-free 260°C process. The soldering
connections will meet standard quality requirements for solderability,
solder joint reliability, and electrical performance. For
a thorough description of testing done on Lead Free Electrodeposited
Tin finish packages see referenced technical paper by Dr.
Robert D. Hilty and Marjorie K. Meyers of Tyco Electronics
Harrisburg, PA.

The European Directives known as RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous
Substances, Directive 2002/95/EC) and WEEE (Waste Electrical
and Electronic Equipment, Directive 2002/96/EC) restrict hazardous
material content in products that will be sold into Europe.
These Directives require that products be compliant on or
before July 1, 2006. Noncompliant products will not be acceptable
after that date.
To meet our customer’s desire to meet these Directives
LSI/CSI is proud to offer RoHS compliant Lead-Free products.
LSI/CSI RoHS compliant ICs are in full compliance with the
EU Directives for Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The
RoHS Directive contains a list of restricted substances which
includes Lead (Pb). The standard lead finish used today normally
consists of a Tin/Lead plating. LSI/CSI RoHS Compliant/Lead-Free
products utilize a 100% Tin (matte) finish on product leads
as well as utilizing Restricted Substance Free “green”
compound.
These RoHS compliant parts were made available on December
31, 2004.
These Lead-Free packages do not contain any of the following
materials in excess of the amounts allowed in the RoHS directive:

In Addition, our RoHS compliant parts have been evaluated
using IPC/JEDEC J-STD-020A and classified for moisture sensitivity
to MSL level 1, and for lead-free solderability @ 260 degrees
Celsius IR reflow.
IDENTIFICATION:
Our Lead-Free products are easily identifiable. We place
the JEDEC compliant logo, a “Pb” in a circle with
a slash line (see Sample Marking figure I.) on the top side
of the packages. This marking is permanent and highly visible.
It signifies the package is Lead-Free and fully RoHS compliant.
